The presented collection of August Zamoyski was purchased for the National Museum in Warsaw in 2019. This is an exceptional collection: it gathers outstanding sculptures - the work of one of the best Polish sculptors of the 20th century - and is representative of all his work.
The collection consists of 93 sculptures. These are works from all periods of August Zamoyski’s work - from the earliest ones, created in his native Jabłonie in the Lublin region, to sculptures from the last years of his life (including the Resurrection, which he prepared for his tombstone in Saint-Clar-de-Rivière). Apart from sculptures, the collection includes 12 drawings and preparatory sketches, as well as several sculptures by Zamoyski’s students. In addition, a set of tools of over 200 objects, allowing you to learn about the artist’s workshop in detail. Elements of the exhibition scenery are also the crates in which the sculptures were transported from the Pyrenees to Poland.
During the presentation of the collection at the National Museum in Warsaw, the sculptures underwent a conservation process - in museum halls, in front of the public.
